One day, my daughter Zeel asked why I don’t make EVS worksheets for her. So far, to make learning practice fun for her, I had created worksheets and hands-on activities for English, Hindi and Maths subjects. That’s how my blog site www.nesteleze.blogspot.com was born.  Her question made me thinking. And it was very true. Although I have been a Science student, somehow the EVS topics don’t interest me the way other subjects do, with regards to designing an activity or worksheet. So, in crafting something “different” as per Zeel’s demand, I had to motivate myself to design something for “EVS”. And that’s how SEVEN BERRIES was born. Centered on Zeel’s likes. That's what kids love. Don't they? Experimentation starts with them. Churning a hole in the eraser, cutting craft papers, tearing old papers, gluing up...that's the way to their novel creations.  At the start of class two of my daughter, I took upon some inquests to build a couple of tools to learn spellings (English). Strawberry cards, Tweety spin wheel and Kitty mini book. Artful they were, but fit for one time use. To practice spellings I had to go beyond.After a lull period in between, thanks to the interim Dictations that commenced in the online sessions, urgency set in and my mind was forced to think some way to help Zeel learn and practice the spellings. Something that was SUSTAINABLE.  Now, we all know that to face a problem at hand, we are taught to break it into smaller issues. > 108 pieces. 90-100 minutes. Late evening. Zeel solves the  Peppa pig Jigsaw puzzle gifted by her dearest Satish Mama and Kavya Mami! On her own !! At every milestone, she would turn her head towards me and remark with joy "Mumma dekho Daddy pig ban gaya,Mumma dekho Peppa pig ban gaya!..........".   I flipped my eyes to see her achievement and matched her joy every time. It's IPL season now. My eyes lay on the IPL match while her's were on the puzzle.  Time flew and I got out first :) Tired, I moved on to get ready to sleep. She sat, not blinking an eye.  The clock was also waving past 10 in the night. Soon, Zeel came running and poured out all her excitement with "Mera ho gaya Mumma. Puzzle ban gayee!" I asked in disbelief - "Ban gayee puzzle?". She said YES.  I couldn't control confirming once again " Papa se help lee?". She firmly said NO.
